Funding
Politically it has been a turbulent few weeks. We had hoped that by now we would have heard how the Chancellor is going to help small businesses like us. We await the Autumn Statement on 17th November with baited breath. Our next newsletter will be in the New Year by which time we will be able to update you on our end of year figures and lay out financial position going forward. In the meantime, the Committee wanted to update you on the activities and events and news about what is happening at the Club.
Club Activities
We are pleased to report that things are getting back to pre pandemic numbers. It has been a slow process and we recognise the need to be cautious as Covid is still with us.
November and December Events
4th November 12 to 3pm Beer tasting.

5th November Pie and Mash Night. Plus Entertainment

26th November: 7.30pm K J and the CATT.

Additionally
We have 2 teams in the local Cribbage League that play on Tuesday evenings starting at 20.00 hrs. Usually one team at home and the other away.
We meet at the Club on Wednesday evenings at 19.30 to play Whist, any member that can or would like to have a go at Whist (Trumps) is welcome
We have another Quiz Night scheduled for the New Year,
Bingo is played in the hall on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7pm. Eyes down 7.30pm
The club is presently hired by the Retinal Screening Unit and the Low Vision Club, as well as an art club.
The hall and function rooms are hired out privately for Birthday Parties and Weddings. On a less pleasant note, we also let the hall for wakes.(This is free if the deceased was a Member).
Repairs and Maintenance
We are pleased to report all the windows at the back of the club have now been repaired and painted. After a Health and Safety Survey, we needed to replace a number of doors which did not meet Fire Safety Precautions. These have now been replaced. We are about to have a number of electrical repairs and an electrical survey under taken. At long last we have secured the services of a scaffolder which will enable us get the roof repairs completed. This will then enable us to decorate the bar. Our next planned project will be the main function room subject to funding!
Staffing
The Committee are grateful to Dave Wilkinson and all our Bar Staff for seeing us through this tricky period. This has enabled us to take our time in considering the options we outlined in the last newsletter. We are grateful too, to our officers who have undertaken voluntary bar work. All these people have helped keep our wages’ bill down.
Catering
Our cooks, Linda and Laura, have certainly helped rejuvenate the Club and brought members back. We are extremely pleased with the quality of food and the service being provided. In addition to their new Autumn menu, there is a Christmas Special menu during December. This needs to be pre-ordered. We welcome groups however large. Please pre-order through the bar.

Membership Renewal and Fob Replacement
We reduced the price of membership last year to encourage members back. We have made an increase to £25 per year for single membership. We have also made a new category of Joint membership at a slightly reduced rate to encourage couples to join. This will be £40. Our new EPOS (Electronic Point of Sale System) is now installed. This allows us to issue members with an entry card which can also be loaded with cash and used to buy food and drink at the bar. You can still retain your fob if you wish, but you cannot have both, unfortunately! We ask you to let us know which one you want at renewal.
